Christmas is still one week away and shopping malls are already gearing up for the battle to grab shoppers.
Chinese consumers need a reason to go for shopping and they will get that in the form of Christmas soon. Online shopping sites are also eyeing to grab their share of shoppers after Alibaba’s Double 12 shopping festival and record-breaking Singles Day shopping festival.
Here are two of the famous shopping malls from China.
Printemps Department Store in Pudong, Shanghai
Shaped in twisted traditional Chinese dragon, huge stainless steel tube is covered with colorful flowers, stars and a variety of musical instruments.
It goes from the bottom of the mall to the fifth floor. It takes only 16 seconds to slide from top to bottom.
It is planned to plant a tree in middle of the slide. When people slide down, it will give a feeling of sliding down from the top of a tree.
New Century Global Center, Chengdu
It is designed to be a self-contained town. It includes an indoor beach area that is more than a kilometer long. It is twice the size of both the previous mall record holder in Dubai and the biggest mall in Guangdong called the New South China Mall.
