Dev Raturi (To the Moon & Back) is an acclaimed name among Indians in China and his incredible journey to China and inspiring experience has already been published at many places featuring interesting odyssey from a waiter to an entrepreneur and having launched many cultural themed restaurants in China, now a days is seen in movies in China making us think what this man is doing here however his stepping in movies is just not a cakewalk but there is an intriguing antiquity of passion and struggle behind it.
Dev moved to China from India in 2005 and after countless struggles from waiter to highest level in leadership roles, opted to be a hospitality entrepreneur with a difference. Before coming to China, his life has been filled with kaleidoscopic adventures and struggles which could not fetch him the booming glory but kept the fire of passion alive whose sparks have not withered at all even after decades.
Young Dev after doing his elementary school and college was looking for opportunity in any arena where he could exploit his potential to the fullest and like millions of Indian youth are fascinated by Bollywood, Dev too was so captivated with films that he eloped to Mumbai in 1998 to try his luck in film Industry. After struggling in Mumbai for long time , Dev realized it is not as easy as pie but it need lot of dedication, looks, luck, talent, education, contacts and other attributes which may make you a star in Bollywood. Dev struggled to get any small roles in films but his acting lacked the flair as was told everytime to him .To improve his acting skills, Dev did a basic acting course in Mumbai to improve his acting skills.
He also spent 6 months with Cinevesta Communications where got the chance to meet lot of film fames and was closely observed by film star “Puneet Issar “who was shooting for his national television serial ‘Hindustani’ etc but still lacked an X factor to be given a break. Inspired by action movies, Dev started learning Karate with lot of dedication where he also won many awards and accolades. Now his passion for film got further enhanced but when he finally got an opportunity of a small role in a serial and had to narrate a dialogue in front of camera, he got so nervous that he could not utter a word even after practicing the dialogue fluently in from of mirror hundred time the previous night. After pursuing it further for some more time and not ascending in film career, he went back to Delhi to face the other realities of vicious world by did not give up.
After around two decades in China, Dev got in touch with a film director who got impressed with him and proposed a role in an online Chinese film for which Dev did not even think twice and agreed. Although it was a small negative role but was like coming back to a utopian stage which his inner self always longed for. This was a beginning of the new era and although it was a small budget film, his appearance was recognized and appreciated by people and he further got more opportunities to act in other movies.
His second movie will be released sometime in February or March 2018 gave him a lead villain role which is opposite from his real life but took it as challenge and delivered the role with precision.
In the third movie, Dev got the chance to work with famous Hollywood actor Robert Knepper who is well known for his role as Theodore ‘T-Bag’Bagwell in Prison Break and other famous movies like Good Night,Good Luck,Hitman, Transporter 4 and The Day the Earth Stood Still.
His fourth movie “Iron Sky”gave Dev the opportunity to work with renowned Finish director Timo Vuorensola who has directed big Star Wreck movies Star Wreck V: Lost Contact and Star Wreck. Dev plays the role of an astronaut in the movie. The movie is likely to be released sometime in 2018
Dev is currently shooting for his fifth movie where he is appearing as a special force personnel. You can watch Dev performing some cool action stunts .The movie release date will be announced shortly. All the links of Dev’s movies will be published.
Dev is working hard in his new avatar of actor and firmly believes in the golden adage “ Dreams are the most Powerful energy”. Dev is looking forward for more meaningful and bigger assignments in the near future. Dev is enjoying the transformation of his most dynamic career as an actor and determined to engrave historical epics for the gen X.
